The club held its AGM last nightwith reports tabled and a new committee for 2026 elected.
Congratulations to Gerard De Filippis who is the new club president, elected unopposed. Vice-captain of the Warriors 50s in 2025, Gezza is a popular leader and contributor to the club over many years – you can read his first address to the Eastern Warriors here.
Gezza’s first order of business is changing the club colours to red and black, and changing the theme song to “See the Warriors fly up, up…” Detailed weekly weather reports will also be mandated. Congrats Gez!
Gezza takes over from Mark Barber who has served the last five years as President, working tirelessly for the Warriors over that time and driving change. Marko is a Life Member of the club, and in 2025 celebrated his 100th game for the Warriors and was also recognised as the recipient of the Rowdy Griffiths Warrior of the Year award. As he steps down, the members thank Marko for his exceptional service to the club.

The club’s annual and financial report was tabled, with the Eastern Warriors recording a surplus of $1126.34 in 2025, with assets of $6,805 at year-end. Following a long period of flat fees, the club voted to apply a modest 10% increase, meaning standard playing fees for 2026 will be $330.
Fiona Butler continues as Vice-President next year, and Mark Lucas (Secretary) and Leigh Gold (Treasurer) also retain their executive positions. Joining the committee for 2026 are Sue Emery, Malcolm ‘Dusty’ Martin, and Brenden ‘Bomber’ Blakeman. Sue and Bomber bring plenty of experience, and Dusty is doing it for the travel allowance and has already bought his tickets to New York. There goes our equity.
Bring on 2026 – Go Warriors!
