Warriors Shine at the AFL Masters National Carnival in Newcastle

The AFL Masters National Carnival wrapped up in Newcastle over the weekend, and the Warriors were right in the thick of it. A strong group of our men and women pulled on state colours, and they came home with an All Australian honour, two national titles and plenty of pride.

All Australian: Killer

Warren 'Killer' Barker, All Australian

Our Warriors 55s captain, Killer, was named an All Australian. It’s the highest individual recognition at the carnival, and it’s a fitting reward for a player who leads from the front for us every week. Congratulations, Killer.

National champions: Magoo and Dave H

Magoo and Dave H were part of the Vic Country team that won the national championship. Two Warriors with national champion medals is a very good weekend.

Kenny played well in the Over 60s, and he did the Warriors name proud against some of the best veterans in the country.

The Vic Metro Non-Contact team

The Vic Metro Non-Contact team was packed with Warriors: Kirsty, Helen, Doc, Ren, H, Sandra, Susie, Jen, Suni and Sue, who also coached the team. They represented the club and the state really well all weekend. It’s a shame the team was denied a final official game because of a forfeit, but it takes nothing away from how they played. Well done, ladies.

Congratulations to every Warrior who made the trip to Newcastle. You flew the flag for the club.

Eastern Warriors. One club, one family.
