Pre-Season Training Begins!

The Eastern Warriors kicked off pre-season for 2026 on a beautiful night at Edinburgh Reserve.

It was a beautiful night for the first official Eastern Warriors pre-season training at Edinburgh Reserve. Brand new yellow Sherrins greeted players on arrival and were soon being shanked all over the park as legs that haven’t seen much action for a few months connected with virgin footballs.

It was also the introduction of new Director of Coaching Gary “Willo” Wilson, who together with Over 55s coach Magoo organised the crew for warm-ups and drills, while Sue took the womens group for their drills.

Willo talked about building a stronger group from this day on and urging respect for the club over the individual. Within minutes, the warm-up was complete and balls were zinging with pinpoint accuracy at elite skill levels.

Okay, that’s a complete fabrication, it was a messy start but by closing time the skills had become a lot better and we dusted off the cobwebs. There is plenty to like about the spirit heading into pre-season, and it was great to welcome newcomer Jason for his first crack at footy (allegedly – he could certainly spear a kick and looked well at home).

Training will be taking place every Wednesday now until December 17th before a Christmas break. Stay tuned for more updates and we’ll see you on the track soon.
