Track Watch
The summer of footy at the Eastern Warriors is well and truly underway and there are some promising signs as the new draftees mix with the 100-year-plus players to light up the track at Edinburgh Reserve.
Following a mid-season debut for the Over 55s, Munga is looking supremely fit in his first Warriors pre-season, building on his skills with an eye to Round 1. Newcomers Jason, Lyndon, Hambo and James have made a great impression early, already looking like locks for the Over 35s Round 1 line-up (a notoriously difficult side to break into, well done guys!).
There’s been plenty of talk about Goldy’s improved kicking, while over on the womens team Sunny and Helen have been pinging those kicks with deadly accuracy. And how good is it to see Seal back on the track after a 5+ year hiatus, moving well and building back to match fitness. Frenchy too after some serious medical issues this year, hunting the footy and building match fitness.
Coaches Magoo and Willo have been laser-focused on skill improvement drills and over the four sessions of pre-season so far there has been strong improvement.
Killer and Andy are flashing the rigs more than some may appreciate, and with Sue away for a few weeks it’s been great to see leaders like Sandra, Doc and Ren step up to lead the womens drills.
The numbers for training are growing, Edinburgh Reserve is the place to be Wednesday nights this summer so get on down! There are only two official sessions remaining before Christmas so don’t miss either. Tell your mates!
Next week the club Annual General Meeting will take place after training, and the last session of the year will feature something related to Christmas – TBC because I only just thought of it now and haven’t got a clue what it’ll be.
