The Eastern Warriors held their final training session of 2025 on a hot night at Edinburgh Reserve with some Christmas fun.
Eastern Warriors final team training 2025

The last training session of 2025 saw a great turnout of fresh and familiar faces on a hot night at Edinburgh Reserve.

The Christmas theme had a lukewarm response (who really wants to train in 32 degree heat with a thick red suit and a beard?), but the womens team certainly came prepared and looked the part. Sue and Willo took the drills with skills and delivery the key focus again as we seek to raise the bar on precision ahead of 2026. At the end of the session, five teams faced off in a knockout handball/goalkicking challenge.

Bomber and new bloke Adam hit their targets to get their teams through, and Helen landed a beauty to get the womens team through to the goalkicking challenge. Three teams through, two teams embarrassed themselves and hit the showers early.

Then it was the goalkicking shootout, which saw a tie before eventually the yellow team won.

New President Generous Gez gave the nod to a free club barbeque, and on a beautiful evening many players and friends stuck around.

Thanks to Kenny for putting on the raffle, with door prizes won by Killer and Al, and thanks to Marko, Rennie and Amanda (wife of new bloke Mick) for helping with the catering. It was great to see Thorney back from the UK, and new guys like Mick, Adam and Johnnie blending in well on the track.

Willo has promised to be much more of a prick in 2026 and we look forward to that when we return in January – stay tuned for updates on training.

Meanwhile, we wish all the Warriors family a very merry Christmas and we’ll see you in 2026 if not before (there’s a 9s game this Monday 22nd December and a fundraising sausage sizzle at Bunnings Notting Hill today and this Sunday – if you can help Sunday arvo, let Gez know on 0430 120 600.
