Round 9 Teams Announcement

The teams for Womens Footy Rush and Mens Over 50s are out. Unfortunately the 35s have forfeited due to low numbers and injuries.

There’s a big milestone this Sunday with club great Matt Devenish running out for his 100th game as an Eastern Warrior!

Matt is a two-time best and fairest winner, former club captain and has won football’s greatest honour, the Grunta Medal, back-to-back.

He has served as a committee member and continues to work quietly in the background, helping out at the drop of a hat. His off-field work is almost as impressive as his on-field efforts, organising two legendary footy trips (Ballarat & Geelong), a Warriors golf day, two trivia nights and hosting the Warrior’s presentation night.

He is the sort of guy who is best on ground and then stays behind to sweep out the changerooms after the last beer has vanished and the story tellers have left.

Matty is not just a great footy player and athlete, he is a great person and a true club champion!

The 50s start at 10.45am this Sunday at Edinburgh Reserve, so be there to cheer Matt on – the best views are from the goal line at either end, and maybe you can garb some flags and jot down the scores for us as we still need two goal umpires! Let Grunta know if you can help on 0407 86 795.

The women are heading out to Wyndham Saturday morning for a winnable game against Parkside. Unfortunately H is out for the season with a calf tear but there’s a great squad raring to go.

Unfortunately the Mens 35s game against Cranbourne has been cancelled with the team decimated by injuries late in the season.
