Round 1 Teams, Leadership and Volunteers

Read on to see the Round 1 teams this weekend and who our leaders for 2026 are. Plus, we urgently need some volunteers for this Sunday.

It was a huge turnout on the track for selection night this week with over 50 Warriors taking to Edinburgh Reserve for a strong session of match-style skills work. Nothing gets people out like selection night, and our new (and old – I mean, existing) coaches got to announce their teams.

Well, almost… the Over 35s is still a work in progress as negotiations for marquee players come down to the wire and we’ll reveal that starting team probably halfway through the game on Sunday.

Wednesday night also saw the leadership groups announced for the Womens Footy Rush, Mens Over 35s and Mens Over 50s. Congratulations to:

Womens Footy Rush
Co-Captains: Sandra Hoult and Kirsty Devenish
Vice-Captains: Renata Johnston and Cathy O’Callaghan
(Sorry, pics to come later when they’re all together)

Mens Over 35s
Captain: Mark Lucas (Junior)
Vice-Captains: Jules Falla and Brenden Blakeman (Bomber)

Mens Over 50s
Captain: Col Wilson
Vice-Captain: Clint Baxter
Deputy Vice-Captains: Mike Makris (Carbo) and Kenny Johnston

Round 1 Teams

Check out the teams (and match times) for the Over 50s and Womens Footy Rush this weekend.

2026 Coaches

Our 2026 coaching panel – l-r: Peter Byrne, Theo Zaharopoulos, Michael Pogzreba, Lou Saunders, Chris Riley, Sue Emery and Kaine Johnston (absent: Gary Wilson, Director of Coaching)

Volunteers Wanted

With this being our first home game on Sunday, we are still looking for the following:

Mens 50s 10.45am-12.30pm

1 x goal umpire
1 x scorer
1 x water runner

Mens 35s 12.45pm-2.30pm
1 x goal umpire
1 x water runner
10 x players
Canteen helpers

If you can help at all, let Grant know asap on 0407 861 795. Goal umpires and scorers are a must for being able to play so these are the priorities (along with about 10 or so players for 35s!). Big thanks to Glenn Van Dord who will join us again as goal umpire for the Round 1 matches (and home games for the rest of the season).
